Selling safely

Writing a listing that sells

• Photograph in daylight from several angles, including any faults.
• State the brand, model, size, age and what is included.
• Be upfront about wear and damage — buyers reward honesty.
• Price against similar sold listings, and say whether you accept offers.

Screening buyers

• Keep every message on HobbyTrade UK so there is a record.
• Be cautious of buyers who will not talk about the item itself.
• Ignore anyone offering to send a courier and pay more than you asked.

Taking payment

• Cash on collection, or a bank transfer that has cleared in your account, is safest.
• Do not accept cheques, payment links you did not create, gift cards or crypto.
• Never hand over an item on the promise of payment later.

Posting an item

• Use tracked, insured postage and keep the receipt.
• Photograph the packed item and the label before sending.
• Never post an age-restricted item without verifying the buyer's age at delivery.
• Never post ammunition, propellant, fuel canisters or pressurised containers.

Meeting at home

If a buyer must collect from your address, have someone with you, keep the transaction at the door or driveway, and only share your full address once a time is agreed.
