Buyer Protection
When you pay through HobbyTrade, your purchase is covered by Buyer Protection. A small fee — currently 4% of the item price plus £0.49 — is added at checkout and always shown before you pay. Sellers pay nothing.
What's covered
- Secure card payments processed by our regulated payment provider
- Order tracking from payment to delivery
- Seller confirmation when the item is sent
- Buyer confirmation when the item arrives — the seller is paid after that
- Item not received claims
- Item significantly not as described claims
- Dispute reporting and refund requests
Example
Item price £500.00 + Buyer Protection £20.49 + delivery £10.00 = total £530.49. The seller receives the full £500.00 plus delivery.
How to raise a problem
Don't confirm delivery if something is wrong. Open your Orders page, then contact us with the order details within 7 days of the expected delivery date and we'll review the case with both parties.
What isn't covered
- Payments made outside HobbyTrade (bank transfer, cash, other apps)
- Change of mind once an item has arrived as described
- Items collected in person and paid for privately
