Selling a Shotgun Legally in the UK: The Basics

Certificates, RFD transfers and what HobbyTrade requires for regulated listings.
Certificates come first
The buyer must hold a valid shotgun or firearm certificate covering the item. Always see the certificate before handing anything over.
Transfer face to face or via an RFD
Transfers must happen in person or through a Registered Firearms Dealer. Postal delivery is not allowed on HobbyTrade for regulated items.
Notify the police
Both parties must notify their police licensing authority of the transfer within the legal time limit. Check current guidance with your licensing team.
